Ok I have asked this a few times already. I got a 04 F150 with the 5.4 3V.
Some say Edge some say SCT and some say Diablo. Well I first was thinking of the Edge till I heard that there were some problems with it. Then I was like ok I hear alot about the SCT cause you can get custome tunes. But I was talking to one of my buddies and he said go with the Diablo. He said its a good programer and you can change your tire size and he didnt think you could with the SCT. I know that none of these really help gas mileage maybe a mile. Cutome tunes arent to big for me I guess. I mean I guess I want some more power for towing and performance for more hp and maybe one just for everyday driving like economy. What is the best.
Hi Still Smoking
SCT has a number of options for your truck. SCT is the type of device that is flexible now and down the road. And as an FTE sponsor we have discounted pricing for members of FTE. If custom tunes are not important to you we can really get down and dirty with savings on X3's and Lw's...
Here is the list of User Options for X3 or Livewires for your truck from SCT.

ok I like the sct I hear alot of good stuff about them. But can you change the size of tires or is this not a big deal. I hear you should. Next what is the difference between the xcal2 xcal 3 and livewire. if i go the route of sct i would like to get custom tunes. what am i looking at in price roughly
I bought the LiveWire and it's awesome. Yes it's a bit more expensive but you have to look at what you ultimately are going to use it for. The X3 is the way to go if you want a hand held programmer that you can also real time data log. If you want the extras like performance monitoring, trouble code reading and engine parameter real time monitoring get the LiveWire. 5 Star will get you setup with all you need and take care of issues that may arise. Support from SCT was top rate. Boy was I dumb.
I like my Edge for the gauges. As far as custom tunes go, Bill at powerhungryperformance can set you up with a Gryphon, which is an Edge that he can custom tune. This is the way I will be going. As far as the other tuners listed above I know little about so I cannot help you with. I have heard good things about the Superchips and they can change shift points and tire size along with online updates and extra programs you can buy for it. Hope this helps.
ya the onscreen gauges like the edge dont bother me cause I will be putting the gauges on the pilliar. I like the way they look so thats the route im going to go. the x3 dont do trouble code reading and engine paramaters. I want that but I dont think I can dish out the extra 150
