Need 97 460 Advice
Long story short, I replaced a totaled 96/460 4x4 with a 97/460 4x4 in January.
I was not prepared to give up the power of the 460 and buy anything different after driving the 96 for 9 years. Addicted? Yes !
The "new" truck has an E40D with 410 gears. Only mod is a K&N Air Filter. (from my 96). Running factory size tires.
Put Bosch plugs in it a couple of weeks ago can't tell any difference in HP or MPG.
On flatter ground pulling 5k trailer at 60mph I get a litter over 8 MPG.
I kept the totaled truck and parted it out. Kept the exhaust system thinking I would put duals on this truck. Really just kept it for the cat.
?
Will I see any performance increase by going to dual exhaust?
Worth the expense?
Should I do cat back or use both cats?
Would a chip be a better investment?

On my 97 crew cab w/ 460, dual exhaust from an empty cat back, helped a lot. just the other day, I opened the air intake up and that made a major diference, did that by trimming off little cone shaped plastic between the air hoses. I haven't drove it enough to see gas mileage change since I cut off those cones, but really noticed a power increase. You may ask some other guys on here about those cones but, it worked well for me.
