Well its time for new shoes for the beast. My Ex does not normally leave the road so based on some reviews and searches on this site i'm leaning towards the Michellin LTX M+S, the Goodyear Silent Armour, or the Nitto Dura Grappler. Price is an issue, but I refuse to spend any money on a tire I would not like. I'm a little leary of the good-for-a-years based on personal experience with different models for cars and trucks. I really like the look of the Nittos and am also considering the Terra Grappler.
I just bought the Terra Grapplers. They're going on the truck tomorrow!! A friend has had them on his truck for about 7-8 months now & loves them. He was always a BFG all-terrain guy. They look great & give a real nice ride.
1 vote Grapplers!
I just got Wrangler Silent Armors for about $815 all in at Sams. Thought that was a pretty good deal (about $30 a tire less than the Michelin). Didn't consider the Toyos or Nittos, as I tend to buy American first and European second, where possible.
well, i decided to go with the Nitto Dura Grapplers. They appear to be a pretty new model, and so i can't find many customer reviews on them. i think i got a pretty good deal online, tires and wheels mounted and balanced and shipped to my house for just over $1k. I finally get to get rid of the old steel rims & hubcaps!
FWIW, the argument for the Michellins was pretty convincing. I had a hard time deciding between the 2.
nice choice going with the Nittos. My truck will be back on the road tomorrow with my new wheels & Terra Grapplers....and lift kit....and new shocks....and new hubs
I'm pretty excited. I can't wait until they get here. I didn't want anything too fancy, just something better than the stock steel rims and hubcaps. I was trying to decide between the Dura and Terra grapplers, but they didn't have the Terra's in my size so that made the decision easier. I had wanted to move up to a 17" or 18" rim also, but everything got quite a bit more expensive.
I've run the Michelin M/S and their predecessors for years. I've had excellent service, usually about 75k out of a set. They're pretty quiet tires and the grip on dry and wet pavement is excellent. I also tow a 9500# trailer so I run E rated.
