I'm trying to find a bug shield for my '72 F250, but I'm trying to find a supplier of the OLD style ones. The ones that typically were made of blue or red see through acrylic and werent molded at an angle like the current ones. I remember them from the late '70's-early '80's.
If anyone knows if they're still available, I would apreciate the info. I couldn't even fine one for a pre '97 truck in my last search.
No, I don't work for them. I've never bought anything from them, even. But I happened to see they were available while thumbing through a recent catalog.

In some states like CA red or blue bug shields are illegal.
No, I'm not making this up.
The theory is that a light can shine thru them and make it appear be an emergency vehicle, which have blue or red emergency lights.
When Ford began selling bug shields (around 1985 or so) for F Series trucks and other models, they were available in blue and red initially.
After a couple of years, Ford stopped supplying bug shields in those colors.
There were no factory Ford bug shields available for any vehicle prior to 1980.
Geez, Numberdummy. You are a wealth of information. I can see that, plus, it explains why you don't see them around anymore. I spent an hour on the computer-net last night looking for them whilst thinking "what the hell happened to all those blue and red plexi bug shields?" I swear, at one time, every truck on the road seemed to be sporting them.
The person that posted this thread originally hasn't been active on the site sense 2009, but maybe someone else will chime in that has found them. Welcome to FTE.
