Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices
went to change my brakes yesterday and found out my jack was gone. With the height of my truck I didnt have anything high enough anyway. Price is right and its a 7k lb jack and its light and small enough to fit behind the rear seat. So let me hear your opinions.

I bought one of those a few years ago.. It is ok for what it does, but I don't like the way the foot part is attached.. It makes the jack wobbly.
Also they are not for lifting a vehicle from a bumper. It is not safe and will probably dammage the vehicle.
I would recommend getting a 6 or 8 ton Hydraulic bottle jack that can be used under the axles.. I have used one for years... They can easily be stored behind the seat..
I have their 4 ton jack stands and they seem to be ok. Mine is 2wd so there isnt really a good lift point other than the body lift point or the front. maybe this would be a better option? Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

You will never fit that under your 2wd truck.. Thos are mostly used for Engine hoists..
If you are going to spend the money, get a good brand jack from an auto supply store or farm store. I've had some of these HF jacks and when they needed repair, the repair guy said he would fix them once but don't bring them back. He said that they just aren't built well enough to withstand the type of use that they are advertised for and barely repairable. When you are working under your truck, even with jack stands, you don't want something holding it up that is "marginal" at best. At home, a good floor jack is best and handiest. I understand your needing a bottle jack on the truck for on the road repairs but get a decent one that will work and last. You will be glad you did.
I put a real Hi-Lift jack under one of my front tow hooks and jacked the front wheel off the ground, about a foot out of the mud hole it was stuck in. The jack had a bit of a bow to it, and it took both me and Dad on the jack handle, but it lifted it.
Frankly, I wouldn't recommend it though. But when you're stuck in the mud in your uncle's front yard, you do what you have to. I for sure wouldn't do it with a chinese knockoff.
i couldn't imagine lifting my truck with a handyman jack. I agree, a hydraulic bottle of floor jack is the way to go.
I also stay away from harbor freight. They are the "dollar store" of tools. they are fine for small things, but I wouldn't skimp on getting a good jack.
A bottle jack, and if necessary a block of wood. The 20 ton jack is heavy, but I'm sure you could find an 8 or 10 ton jack that would be a little lighter. As stated above, use a block of wood to raise the jack to reach what you need. A bottle jack and a block or 2 of wood will do a lot more that those high lift jacks, especially when working on vehicles.
They (harbor freight) have 2,4,6, and 8 ton bottle jacks. I would lean towards the 6 or 8 ton just for the added capacity. These little jacks come in handy. Not near as expensive as the 20 ton, more portable that the high lift, and the floor jack. Lighter and easier to keep in the truck, even if you need a block of wood.
