Instrument Cluster
Fuse #29 keeps blowing on my 1997 F-150. #29 is the Instrument cluster and transmission override switch. Truck has been to dealer twice, but they just replace the fuse and say it is OK. Well, it's not - the fuse may blow immediately or 1/2 a day later. The only common thread is the steering column - the fuse blew once as I grabbed on to the shift lever and blew once when I went to tilt the wheel. And since this circuit runs up the steering column, it makes sense that is where the problem may be.Has anyone experienced this? Will this be difficult to find?

Something is definitely shorting out. Since, it appears to be narrowed down to the steering column, it may not be too hard to find. I would take the covers off the steering column and look around. But, I would be leery about poking around with an ohmmeter, because of the air bag.

I had the same problem in my old 1992 which is pretty much the same. Problem is fraying of OD lock-out and/or OD light wires at the end of the shift lever in the steering colume. I assume you have auto 4 speed. The wires plug into a connector and are very fine. Remove upper and lower steering colume covers, unplug wires and lever is held in by a pin. You can either repair by soldering and taping the wires or purchase new shift lever. Wires and lever come as assembly and is about $50 at the local Blue Oval dealer. Hope this helps.
