91 explorer: brakes disappear
What I've done: Rotors, Pads, Wheel cylinders, shoes, rebuilt booster, 3rd master cyl., junkyard abs module. Bled gallons of fluid.
The problem: Pedal has always been low and spongy and slow to return.
The scary part is if you hit the pedal and hold it it does ok, but back off the slightest and it goes to the floor. Hit the pedal once and Ok. Second time; nothing. Destroyed some equipment and about went through the wall getting it into the shop. New parts seem to work for awhile but then same old thing.
Thought it might be the ABS module dumping and replaced it today but same thing. Maybe this one's bad too? What if I just took it out of the circuit and spliced the two lines together?
Is this yet another bad master?

Calipers & mounts checked for cracks, proper install, leaks, etc?
Bad masters? Did you try different source?
ABS: Does it work when you try to lock 'em up?
Bleeding: Follow the ABS protocol?
Seems to have done the trick. Still somewhat spongy and that could be hoses
but it works good enough. Not thrilled about spending $1M for a rebuild, another hundred for a booster, ABS,& fluid plus a lot of time chasing it down.
Going to throw the rebuilt through their front window.
If this was my first Ford, I would be a chevy man. Been doing Fords for 46 years and this has definitely earned the name "exploder".
Thanks for the prompt and numerous replies. This is a great forum.
