Basically in Ca. ANYTHING after market is illegal... We have the strictest vehicles laws in the USA if not the world... Our vehicle code book is something like 800 pages long. The problem with a truck being "too high" is for A. Safety reason in a crash, B. visibility for the driver, and C. His headlights blinding everyone els.
Kalleefornya and their government in your business about everything sucks. I have a mini version here to deal with. You guys set the standard though. All the other lib's want to be California when they grow up.
I lived there for 36 years and left for many reasons not the least of which was because of their stupid laws and the way that they have their hands and noses in your business.
Politicians don't pull that crap down here in Texas. They also don't coddle the weak here like they do in California. Here you have to make it on your own. If you can't do it they point you towards California.
Want take this off road for a bit... We can see who makes it further...
I'm in! But let me clarify, I wasn't talking about lifted trucks period, I was talking about taaaalll trucks, i.e. show trucks that are too tall to do anything. I'd put my truck against anything with 18 inches of lift anyday!

Thanks, I figured that was the most menacing picture I had, even though I don't have sunglasses on!

Really? Well, they haven't found that out up here in my neck of the woods. Every other Bubba has a lift (including me).
I have never heard of anyone around here ever being pulled over for a lift. But, if gas prices stay high, and more and more small cars hit the road, the size disparity might become more obvious, and the laws might start to be enforced more.
Loud Harleys seem exempt from police attention too, even the ridiculously loud ones.

They haven't escaped my attention here. I just haven't had the heart to take action yet. I am getting tired of the obnoxious ones though. One of these days one is going to rack the non-muffled pipes nearby and donate $200 to the city along with the idiots that have that tennis shoe in the dryer license plate rattling crap I can feel/hear in my car despite having the windows up and AC blowing on max hi. Tough crap to you. Look around, it is a marked patrol car. Here's your sign, sign here.
I really hate loud Harleys with straight pipes.
There are a lot of people that do, but nobody has made any complaints about it yet.
They hurt my hearing as they go by.
I consider it the same as smoking in the same room as me, forcing your bad habits on me and contributing to my hearing loss.
Please have a go at making them quiet those machines down, Mike.
