suspension problem

Last weekend I went campin/four wheelin the roads werent incredebly bad mostly washboards a few ruts and small rocks. Anyways on the way up I some how pulled my right front shock through the washer on the mount. I wasnt drivin fast over rough terrain or anyhtin like that. Also do you guys think i need new front springs cause I have 315 70 r16s on it and they rub on the fenders when I turn and go into a gutter? What do you think is wrong?

No they rubbed from day 1 on gutters when I would turn. The roads were pretty rough up there as far as washboards and ruts but I mighta hit one quick and forgot which one I hit.

i dont really know alot about wheel and tire combos on these trucks (im still running stock type stuff on a 2wd). would you be willing to put some spacers under the springs? that would give you about an inch. might help. how much bigger are the tires from stock?

So you want to fix the rubbing? I ran 35's on my 79 250 4x for a couple of years with only add a leafs up front (2" lift max). Since you have a 76 250 you fall into the high boy category and those trucks sit about 3"s higher than my 79 stock. So I don' think that you should be rubbing. I never did with my spring/tire combo, and yeah I got it into some pretty twisted up situations. I'd say that your front springs are sagging, so you can either get some add a leaves to bring it back up (cheap, will last a while but kind of a band aid) or (what I would do money permitting) get some new front springs.

Well finally got around to puttin on new shocks. I put em on at full droop and they had about an inch or two till they bottomed out they are the same lenghth as the old ones. I think that what happened was as I was makin my way down the road the frame and body were gettin tossed around too much and resulted in forcin the suspension to extend more than full droop. Also when I jacked up my truck and let the susp. hang the tires just cleared the ground and it only say up in the front two or three inches more than the back. The springs and bumpstops had about 6-8 inches between em so I certain I need new springs. The above post was meant to say can any other company beat the price not tryin to bum em off anybody.
