Hello everyone, new to this forum, but I do spend some time on a boating forum. Here's my question- I have a 1999 F350 that I purchased new and absolutely love, it has been a great truck. I searched the forums and couldn't find my specific issue. The interior lights stay on while driving and stay on while parked for about 45 minutes(even after locking the truck). The door ajar light does not stay on while driving, so I don't think it is the door switch. While studying the wiring diagram, I noticed that the relay switch or something called the General Electronic Module(GEM) could be involved. Any insights on which way to proceed will be appreciated. Thanks again for any help.
I would oil the striker area of each door real good. I always had the door ajar light on when my lights acted the way your lights are though. Maybe because my truck is an 02' F250 CC?
Once I oiled each door real good and opened and closed them several times the problem would go away for a while. I was able to narrow it down to being the drivers door causing the problem and now keep it oiled. The lights have worked great for sometime now.
Thanks for the quick response, I just had a "Doh" moment, my wife has been driving the truck lately and after reading some of the threads I realized she may have turned the interior lights on via the dash control wheel and just left them that way. Sure enough, I just went outside to check and that was the case, problem solved. Sometimes I wonder how I manage to get dressed correctly in the morning. I think the reason the lights eventually went off when the truck was parked is that there is a battery protection circuit that comes into play. Thanks again, I look forward to participating in this forum regularly.
you mention the door ajar light doesn't stay on while driving, does it go off if the doors are shut? the light is setup to go off over 15 mph I believe. It is kinda funny when I follow others that this happens on. above 15 you can see the cargo light go off, when they stop at the next light it turns back on. If this is the way yours is working it is indeed one or more of the switches in the door. these switches are on the back side of the latch inside the door. Most time you can wd40 them real well as suggested and they will start working again.
