so today i went out to Fom's and bought 2 flatheads. When i got them home, one turns over great (the truck flatty) and the other is a little stuck (can only turn it 1/4" either way). I got the later flatty soaking in penetrating fluid right now and ill give it another try tomorrow. The 'seized" ojne is out of a passenger car so im kinda hoping that it might turn out to be a 255 so i can nab the crank and rods for my future build on my 239.
well both are ford flatheads, no merc here so no 255 but ill take the heads of the truck motor and see how good/bad the block is and maybe ill build that motor and just keep mine in the truck and drive it while I build it. No luck yet on the seized motor, im going to go and pick up a new hoist this week and then i can put it on my stand and tip it on its side to let some diesel soak in maybe i can let it loose that way
I have an engine lift hoist that I`m not using at the moment but it`s very heavy, it`s a two man job just to load it on a truck. Once I get the motor in I`ll have no further use for it for a while.
My engine stand has my 292 Y-block that`s going into the 56 M100.
Even though the power gain is modest 15 hp, you gain more then just top end horsepower which one would never use, A guy gains power throughout the power curve.
