Hey everyone,
After having a pretty bad day replacing the rear brakes on my dads truck(screwed up one of the cylindersand everythign associated with it) we figured out why they were so bad to begin with - rusted on parking break lines. As a temp. fx we simply pulled them out and now the parking brake cant be used till the lines are fixed. I was looking at the lines and they dont look that hard to replace/lube. Has anybody changed out the lines where they split to go to the wheels? Any heads up so I dont have to take 6 trips to the autoparts store ?
Thanks a ton
Park brake cables are not hard to replace. You have to remove the drum and the shoe that has the park brake arm on it. If your careful, you can leave the other shoe in place. If you have never worked on drum brake before, I would remove both drums so that you will be able to see how things go back together by checking the other side.
