The first couple are pretty simple, but the rest of them I don't have a clue. I looked for a bundle of wires behind the fuse panel and only found a few deadend wires taped to one of the harnesses going into the back of the panel. This bundle had 8 wires in it, three were not hot with the ignition on or off, and the other 6 had some type of factory cap on them (so I presume and some point they are hot). None of the wires had labels, so I don't have a clue whether or not these are the wires i'm looking for.
Anybody have any experience with installing remote start systems, or point me towards a wiring diagram? Thanks!
first off you're not going to find the "wait to start" wire to the lamp. This as a data pulse signal that goes to the cluster so you will have to read the 950 instructions to "time out" instead of using this lead wire.
The constant and ignition on wires are in a bundle by themselves if you get out your owners manual you will find them and their color codes, these are blunt end wires.
the +brake wire is at the brake pedal switch.
I know the tach wire is an easy connection but I don't have this memorized.
Just do a search and You will find just what you are looking for.
this web site might help you locate your wiring.
Also there is a harness near the parking brake that will have the tach input. I think it's light green in color.
again get your owners manual out and with this website you'll have it licked in no time. 2002 -2005 Ford F Series Super Duty Vehicle Wiring Chart and Diagram

After paging through the Owner's Guide and the 6.0L Diesel Owner's Guide Supplement, I had no luck finding the location of any bundle of ignition/constant wires. I found the fuse panel table, and that's about it.
However, it looks to me like if I can locate the ignition switch, ignition coil (tach) and the brake switch, I would be in pretty good shape.
...I know the tach wire is an easy connection but I don't have this memorized...
Funny... that's the only wire I can't find. One set of instructions say this wire is located in a 5-wire bundle taped up with white tape behind the parking brake release.
I found a bundle of wires tied up with white tape in that area, but there's 8 wires there (the 8 wires I mentioned that I found earlier), and none of them are the tach wire. I've looked for the last hour for that wire, and I'm not having any luck.
I'll see if I can turn anything up searching the forum.
EDIT: All the search results say the same: "lt green with white stripe, behind parking brake release or behind fuse panel."
No luck. The green w/ white stripe wire from the white tape bundle behind the parking brake release has to be it, but the darn thing goes right to 12~13v when I fire the truck up, instead of giving a 1 - 6v signal as what's called for in the instructions. And it doesn't vary linearly with the APP either.
look behind the fuse panel taped inside the harness you will find several blunt cut wires one of them is the tach sens wire. it is light green w/ white stripe.
(You need to remove the fuse panel first.) to access the harness, once inside they will be wrapped in white tape with black lettering on the tape.
from the sound of your post regarding voltage, you may be one of the lucky ones that needs a "tach inverter" (part # 5C3Z-17C304-AA)
This is for the '04-'06 model year diesels.
mine is an '06 and didn't need one of these inverters but if you found the tach input wire and it isn't within the specs you have, than you may need to add this inverter for your particular application.
