fuel pump
My truck died and I had to be
towed home. I replaced the fuel pump
, fuel pump relay and ECC relay. When I
replaced the pump I saw the fuel gage wire
had all of its insulation melted off. I replaced
the connection. The fuel gage and the ground
had a factory crip to 1 black wire about 6'
away. I bypassed the inertia switch and still
have no power to the fuel pump. I tried to trace
the wires but run into problems in the front (so
many quick disconnects). If I run 12 volts to the
fuel pump it will run. If I bypass the relays and
run a hot wire to one side of the inertia switch
will I create more problems? Attemted to test the 7
fusable links but they all have continuety. A few
years ago I had problems with the clutch safety switch.
I made several attempts to fix but no way. I paid the Ford
garage $600 to fix it, it worked 1 week. So I closed the
connection with a set of vice grips. With it being closed
cause the fuel gage wire to melt?
I'd like to get a few more
years out of it but don't want to pay a big bill to get
it fixed? Does anyone have any ideas?
