Heavy rain caused a massive puddle in the middle of the road on my way to work this morning... I plowed threw it at maybe 15-20 mph and it made a really big splash and im sure soaked the undersides of my truck pretty good.
Almost dirrectley after that puddle my overdrive off light started to blink... and and off on my way to work. Around lunch time it would come and go,, never blinking constantley for a very long period of time. I thought it was all done with and it started doing it again then went away tonight.
I'm sure that the water caused it somehow, soaked the harness maybe? Its not shifting any different, just the lights blinking. I'm going to try to pull codes tomorow at work but from what I've already read from searching here is that I won't be able to... is this something I should be worried about and have a tranny shop look at?
It's very easy to have gotten water around the wires but like projectSHO89 said guessing isn't good but if you have time to look at the connection yourself to see if there's water intrusion then by all means do so first. Then spray some electical connector cleaner in there if it's recommended to dry out the water. Plus you can call a reputable shop that isn't just out there for the money to ask for advice.
I too get the flashing OD light when its damp, OD still works fine.. once it drys up. the flashing stops... actually havent had the flashing light since winter..
