I went thru the same problems recently on my 9". You will need to find a machine shop to remove/replace the bearing and seal with a press. I found a Carquest Parts Store that had a machine shop so I bought the bearing there and had them press it on the axles. On the part left in the housing, I rented a Slide Hammer Puller Kit from Advance Auto Parts and it will have an assortment of attachments for pulling that part from the housing. Good luck to ya!
Thank you sir, was able to improvise and remove the seal, getting it back in was tricky. And found a machine shop that did the bearing, 25$, The BEARING was 35 and seals were 8 bucks apiece, buggered one , gotta be more careful! so far so good, on to the other side next..Pap.
To get the collar and bearing off, you can take a dremel with a small cutting wheel and cut the collar on the compass points almost to the axle. This will loosen it up so it pops off, or you can gently hit the collar on a cut point with a hammer and chisel and it will break.
You can cut the outer race straight through on 0 and 180 degrees and let it fall off. Then cut the inner race with the dremel just like you did the collar. Usually once you get to the 3rd cut it is loose enough to push off with your fingers.
I posted pictures somewhere here, I think the 67-72 forum, how I pushed my bearings and collar on using the frame for a pipe bender and 3 ton floor jack.
Avoid no-name bearings from Advance Auto made in China. They will pop off the axle in a few months of wear.
