If the carb is original to the engine, then it's a 1956 Ford Y block either a 292 or a 312 because that was the only year that type of 4V Holley carb (B6A-9510-Q) was used.
1955 Holley 4V's have the choke mounted on the left side of the intake manifold.
I agree, but back in the day the Y Black was what I first learned to rebuild in High School. As today, putting a 4 BBL & getting rid of the crossover pipe for dual exhaust on even the 239s was popular. So who knows for sure what displacement it is But IT IS A Y-BLOCK for sure. I just sold the last haystack Holley & manifold I owned from those days.

That "Haystack" 4V carb (we called 'em toilet bowls) fits 1956 Fords & Birds and is very hard to find today.
If it was a '55 Holley 4V, with the intake manifold mounted choke...that one is even rarer. Even rarer than the '55 4V carb, is the manifold itself.
