95 F-150 Extended Cab 4x4 Trans?

I have a 95 f-150 ext. Cab 4x4 P/U that I'm having some trouble with Trans. Trans shift hard going from 1st into 2nd and sometimes into 3rd, but always shifts hard going into reverse. Someone suggested looking for bad Vacuum lines (Rotted, broken, split), however I don't seem to find any vacuum lines going to Trans. Is there something particular I should be looking for? Seems to me their should be some kind of Vacuum line going to Trans. What about Vacuum Modulator? Book says that it has one, but doesn't seem to be where it says it should be located. One more thing, I believe this is a C6 Trans how many quarts of Trans fluid should I expect this thing to Hold? Someone said 6, the book say 12? LOST need some help here, any suggestion on hoe to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Guys!

If it is a C6 you will definately have a vacuum connection. If you have 3 gears then it should be a C6, if you have overdrive then it is probably a E4OD. If you click on specs. in this forum it will tell you how to identify the trans. even by counting the number of pan bolts. If it is a C6 then yes with torque drained it will take around 12qts. of fluid. If it is a C6 then it is very important to have a vacuum supply to it.

Lazy K,

Thanks for info, it might be a E4OD I know it has the OD button on the end of the shifter. If it is E4OD will it have a Vacuum source? Thanks again!

Check the driver door pillar. Trans code E is E4OD. Trans code U is 4R70W.
