My question is, will a throttle cable from a 87-91 f 150 with the 300 and a 5 speed fit my 1990 f250 5.8 c6, the reason i ask is because mine is held onto my gas pedal with vise grips, and i dont trust it, so i need a new one.
Measure the length of your throttle cable and the length of the 4.9 cable. Check the ends of both cables. If the length is similar and the ends are the same-should work!
okay thx, but yeah i found out about the vise grips shortly after i bought it, i guess that's what you get with a 900 dollar truck and a someone who is a lot more redneck than me as the former owner.
You're going to swap over the whole cable, inner and outer casing not just the inner cable so over all length if longer won't make any difference. As long as the ends are the same, both inner cable and outer cover and the inner cable free travel is the same it will work.
I used a 86 cable on a 89 bronco II, both had different over all lengths but both ends where the same where it anchored into the firewall, gas pedal and at the motor end.
That is hilarious though, what some guy's won't do in a "pinch"! Or if down right cheap....
