driveshaft?year?
I have a 1988 ford f 150 1/2 ton truck with a 302 motor and 5 speed manual transmission. My 1356 borg warner transfer case locked up in it. I got another one but it is a borg warner 1345 wich does not have the shaft coming out of the back of it. so I got the driveshaft that came with the 1345, because I knew mine would be to short. My problem is that the driveshaft is still too short. everything in the 89 that I took it out of is the same the only difference is that that truck is 3/4 ton and mine is 1/2 so I take it that the nose on the axle is longer on the 89. Called junk yards but have had no luck. need to know what year to ask for to match up to my truck. Gave them the lenght that I need but they say they cant look it up like that and wont go and measure any of them. Also wont let me go into the yard and look. Called a driveshft shop and it will be 300 to 400 for them to add to mine and make it work. dont have that much to spend on it. Can anyone help me?
The new old transfercase came off F250 right ? The F250 would/could have had a zf (great tranny ) If it were a 5 spd. and being 3" shorter ur fun is just starting.
Yea any Manual stuff is hard to find . But xsfer cases r not . I can get xsfer for less than $50 here . Get the right case and save on the drive shaft .
By the way I can get a complete custom shaft built for way less. U just need new longer tube.
good luck

I believe someone did some major alterations on the 1989 that I took the transfer case from. It says f 150 on the truck but the rear axle is bigger than mine and the number of bolts on the wheels is alot more than mine. A transfer case here cost 400 used. That is why I thought about the drive shaft and the fact that I already put the 1345 transfer case in my truck. Just need to find a drive shaft that is longer 58 inches or so. Thanks for the reply...
