think my truck has a new engine
So I just got this truck last week and have had some sleepless nights already wondering if I made the right choice getting rid of my 7.3 for it. Anyways I found out my truck was built 8-23-05 a Tuseday LOL its considered an 06 of course well after looking at my engine tag on the valve cover it says the engine is a 2006 model and looking even closer I noticed marks on both engine eye hooks like a chain as been around them. I dont have an oasis report yet but I think my engine has been possiable changed. anyone else have a truck with a build date close to mine and have a 2006 engine sticker?

I have an 06 built in late July 05. I'm the original owner. The passenger side valve cover has a sticker providing the torque/Hp rating as well as 2006 model year. The driver side valve cover has a module on top of it toward the back (I think it's the FICM). This module has a sticker that provides the place of manufacture as well as the manufacture date of the engine. Mine indicates it was built in late June 2005. Look for this manufacture sticker and you'll have a good idea if the engine is original. If the engine manufacture date is prior to the truck build date then it's the original engine.

Ya I looked for that sticker and its gone! like it got peeled off the valve cover! which has me kinda worried only reason I was wondering is I almost kinda hoped it dose have a new engine in it and that it is a engine built after jan 06 so that I would have all the upgrades they did to the 6.0 getting ready to start making the 6.4 I dont know really Its been running good so far and what not so Im happy with that. I just hope It gives me minor problems if any in the next few years. To be honest out of warranty I really couldnt afford a major engine repair if it happened! I know the 7.3 was less likely to have one then the 6.0 But I dont plan on chipping it and I dont pull anything heavy so I hope it lasts

just because there are signs that the engine has been removed doesn't mean that it is a new engine. is there an actual build date on the engine or does it just say 2006 model? if it just says it's an 06 model then it could just mean that it was built for the 06 model year of truck. the engine may have been removed for head gaskets, EGR cooler, HPOP or a number of other things. thats why you need to get the oasis report on your truck.

hey, if it does have a new engine so be it, just take care of it, use fuel addiive and ask on here for a good dealer in your area. i did not see how many miles are on it, but if its under 100,000 it still has a warr. the 100 deductable is only 3/4 of a fill up.(aint that a bad statement). gas just dropped 30-40 cents by me but diesel only dropped 5 cents.

I asked the Ford dealer for an Oasis on my wifes Explorer before we signed the papers, he handed me a Carfax. I said an Oasis, not a carfax. He looked at me kinda funny, like how did I know what that was. I told the service manager don't worry, I know where I can get it if you won't give it to me. He then claimed there was nothing on the report. When my wife took the Ex back for some warranty work 2 weeks later, she left the Oasis report on the seat, showing that it did in fact have several things on it, one of which I had specifically questioned him about. It wasn't there when she picked the car up. Jerks.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. He was surprised when I quizzed him about it, and was really surprised when I told him I'd get it, I didn't need him to. I could be wrong though. What ticked me off was the fact that the specific thing I asked him about that he said wasn't on anything he had, WAS in fact on there and had been taken care of previously, as indicated on the Oasis. I think it was something to do with the OD light flashing and tranny slippage, some solenoid recall or problem or something.
