Oil
Took my Amsoil to Caterpillar lab and they analyzed it but couldn't tell me if the synth. oil was breaking down.
So I called Blackstone labs and they say synthetic oil doesn't break down.
I am going to add a bypass and hope to keep it clean.
The blackstone guy also said that it is much cheaper and better to run petro based (reg. oil) in our trucks. Said he had been analyzing oil for 20 yrs and he had seen many 7.3s with 500k running Rotella T.
He recommended any oil and pushed Rotellla T, or the Wally world brand SuperTech.
I found the best buy at walmart was the Motorcraft 15w40. 5 qt bottles for $10.63. Best deal.
Any body used this stuff?
Also, the guy said that Amsoil has high lead in it already. I had 8k on that oil and they said I had 24 ppm of lead. It should be 4 the guy said.
Any thoughts?
