Headlight switch illuminator sensor?

Hello,

I recently purchased a used 2000 Ranger, 2.5L 4 cyl. I noticed that when it gets dusk out the headlight switch is dimly illuminated. I guess this is to get your attention to turn your headlights on. Anyways this is new to me and was wondering where the sensor is located for this action?

Not having a 2000 Ranger I am not sure, but, check your right hand dash near the windshield for a round glass button (looks black).
