Hello Guys---I am wanting to replace some areas on my 1950 F1 with metal. It appears that bondo or some material has been used many years ago and it did not hold up. How do I remove the sections (baseball size) of bondo?

I used a wire brush on my angle grinder to remove old cracked bondo areas. That made removal quick and did a nice prep on the metal. It is messy, though. If you can do it outside, you can just hose the area down after.
There are several methods. One is to use a propane torch to lightly heat the filler and brush it off with a hand wire brush. Do not heat it a lot or you will warp the metal underneath!!!!!!
I use either a wire cup brush on a small grinder (4.5"), or 2" roloc disks on my angle air die grinder-36 grit currently (for small tight areas), or my sander with an 8" ferro backer pad and 8" 80 grit indasa disks for larger areas.
As Randy said...the larger grinder with a wire brush works well too. My right hand was damaged and I have a hard time controlling a larger grinder.
Always wear safety gear whatever way you do it. Those wires come out at a high speed and can go into your eye or somewhere else.
All methods I am aware of are messy. I do mine outside (no garage anyway) and wear safety glasses and a dust mask.
Once I get a panel stripped, I weld in patch panels, straighten the panel as much as I can, and then spray it inside and out with SPI epoxy primer.
I am a total amateur though. Maybe some of the pros around here have a better answer.
Thanks Bobby. I just do a little as I can. That fender took close to a month to get it that far. However, I was in the hospital for 6 days of it and "home bound" for another 6.
Takes time. It still needs filler, blocking, primer, blocking...did I mention blocking?
Then on to the next one. I am hoping that one is the worst. I believe it is...no major cracks anywhere else.
