Wish me luck(camera install)

Got a beach trip coming up in a couple weeks so I might as well finally do the install I've been putting off forever.
6" mirror/monitor(clamps around the stock mirror)
and a backup camera it looks like I'm prob going to have to mount to the brake light.
With the windows are dark as they are, I can't see well to back up or to monitor the trailer when I have the 2 rockcrawlers on it, so its a safety issue.
And the wife can't see/just doesn't pay attention either.
I'll get some pics as I go

Good luck. Is the camera going to be mounted on the trailer, or the Ex?

funny you ask that, I'm going to end up with both...this one will be mounted directly on the 3rd brake light. I wanted it as high as possible to see the most(still pretty hard to see over the samurai's when they're on the trailer though) so I'll be installing a second right under the deck on the trailer(22; steel deck trailer)
The monitor has 2 inputs so I can just toggle between the 2 from up front

I use the VR3 wireless. You can get them on eBaY for about $75.

They work quite well.

I was thinking about that but the reviews were pretty split about them fading in and out and as long as the X is I didn't want to push it.
The monitor was only 70 shipped, I spent under 50 on the cam, but I went with a higher quality model instead of the 10 buck one I bought to try out

both were from ebay
a number of different companies have it, it was the largest one I wanted to go with to keep from blocking the view out the window
here is the link for the cam
Car IR LED Night Color Rear View Monitor Reverse Camera - eBay (item 300242402431 end time Jul-16-08 18:46:19 PDT)

metal housing and shield, and the LEDS are brighter than any other backup cam I have used.
The picture and night vision is better than the 200 cam I bought for my rv a couple yrs ago

Oh I thought it was the little one that goes in the 3rd brake light, someone here had one but can't remember the thread.

I wasn't about to cough up the $$ for that model, this one actually has a little better field of view plus the fact its adjustable, which for what I needed, is very important, plus being metal and cheaper by about $150 didn't hurt either

where do you have yours mounted at? I'm guessing between the hitch and bumper? if so, how'd you run the wires inside the truck?

that's pretty much what i've been looking for, except most of the ones I found come with a monitor (like the VR3 wireless one)

still havent gotten anything mounted as of yet, running into a few issues, have all the wiring taken care of, but the stock mirror is to big to attach the new mirror to, so I have to swap that out real quick with a standard mirror
I like the look of that mount TripleX but it's a little too low for me

here is what I need to keep an eye on..

I have the Mito one - it's the one that replaces the 3rd brake light - love it. A little pricey compared to some other options, but field of vision exceeds that of any of our other vehicles with camera's (pretty much all of them). Pictures in gallery...

Yip you are the one that had the 3rd brake light camera. Most ppls selling it for $399, $50 off. Is that the price you got yours for?

I had ordered one from 2-3 different places, including Truck Add On's at that discounted price - but the item was never delivered. I kept getting told by all of them that the "manufacturer was out of stock" on the item....Finally I just called Mito direct, had one in 3 days. Since I already had the Pioneer AVIC system installed, it only took about 20 minutes to put the camera in. I paid around $450 + ship I think but at that point I didn't care, I just wanted it over with.
