power steering PSI output
Does anyone know what the PSI output is for a 79 f250 4x4. I ask because i want to put a Mile Marker winch on the truck and i see that it runs off the pump. The pump requires 1500psi to operate at 10500lbs. So is there any special kit to get?
Thanks
James
Finding brackets from an "E" series vehicle with a similar engine will make this a bolt in deal. Only hose ends will have to be changed, but a hydraulic shop can do this, or make up new lines in a snap, for less money than a complete OEM style line.
Here is a tip: your pump, regardless of which one you install will get the snot worked out of it, and it will get hot. Keep it cool by adding a large cooler. For this winch application, the demands will be very high, and a large cooler will be the difference between survival and failure.
I run a large transmission cooler for my power steering system, because my steering box used to get hot enough to cook eggs while off road.
Consider the upgrade Saginaw box, and be happy from the beginning. Wibch performance , and steering performance will be increased.
