I have had a few post on here about fuel flow issue...we'll I have that ALMOST resolved, however I had to get a new battery due to killing it from all the cranking, anyway, I noticed the red batt. wire is getting REAL hot during the constant cranking while getting the fuel issue resolved.
I lost ANOTHER solenoid, so I went and got a motorcraft from ford.
Let me run this by you folks to make sure it's wired right.....I brain locked during the change...
The terminal closest to the battery has the RED wire from the battery along with the 2 fusible smaller wires {Alt?} and the post futher away from the battery, facing the firewall has the one from the starter the ing. wire is on I.
Isn't that right?
NOw, is it normal for the red wire to get hot from lots 'o cranking?
Yes, it's normal, and the starter is getting even hotter. Make sure to give everything a rest, and only crank it for 10 sec or so at a time, waiting 20 sec between cranking, and after about 5 times of this, wait a few minutes before trying again. I made all those times up in my head, but I think you get the idea. You may be buying a new starter if you are not careful.

Thanks Dave, I swear this truck is 1 more breakdown from a 12 gauge blast!!
If it is really becoming a problem. Then do What I did. I replaced the cable going from bat+ to Solenoid with a nice piece of 2 gauge. The truck starts easier due to the lower resistance. I've had it in there for about 2 years now. A couple of months ago I replaced the connection on the battery side with a brass terminal that I soldered on. So when in doubt oversize.

I kinda did what your saying, I bought the most expensive "high quality" copper BS from a chain auto parts store {joke}
I think I'm just overloading it with the amount of cranks I'm doing with the fuel flow issue I'm trying to fix.....now that thats 99% squared away, I hope to have the cranking issue fixed as well.......
That being said, there may be a 85 f150 351 4x4 lifted with buckshot holes scattered on the body for parts listed on here......I'm laughing, but dead serious too.......
ad may read.....85 f150 lifted 6 inches with low miles 351 rebuilt NP435 w/np 208 trans case.
Body in good shape on one side, MAJOR damage on other from pissed off redneck with 12 gauge tired of minor problems becoming one MAJOR pain in the a$$, will sell cheap!!
