Bad fan clutch?

2000 7.3 Excursion.

SO I have never seen my fan not run. Even on cold start up it spins. I have recently started to have a squeal from under the hood. I have swapped put the tensioner and pulleys with no avail. If I spray belt dressing on the belt the noise goes away for awhile. The belt looks just fine. I can turn the fan when the truck is off but it is feels like it is kinda dragging. Any thoughts....Two weeks to Sturgis.

Are you sure the belt hasn't dried out?

Is it a regular clutch fan like they have on the gassers?

If so, it should drag a bit when the engine is shut off, and it WILL spin when the engine is running.

Does it make a roaring sound when your driving around ? If not, no worries

But isn't the fan not supposed to turn when the engine is cold?

The fan will turn when cold, but it is actually freewheeling, as the engine heats up the clutch engages and loads the fan.

Well I put a new gatorback belt on it and all seems well. I drive it about a hundred miles yesterday and no noise. Hopefully it won't come back on the way to Sturgis. Thanks for the help!
