We have the Farm Bureau ins. head office here, I forgot about that until you mentioned Ins. Big Place, they have hired alot of people over the years, I have talked with a few of them, and they seem to be happy there.
Thanks my wife will pull their website to see if they are hiring
let me know if you need more.
Council Grove has a few Mfg plants, but I don't know much about them. Its a very nice little town.
Abiline is also close enough to Ft. Riley, I dont' have much info about it, but it has a few Mfg plants, including Russell Stover(candy) and Great Plains(farm tillage equipment).

Thanks it will be a help I have 2 sons that will need jobs.
Have her check for federal jobs out at Ft. Riley. There are also lots of private contractors out there who have jobs available. My wife works for the one that operates the optical shop at the PX.
Also, check out psweb@da.state.ks.us for jobs registered with the state employment office in Kansas.
As far as housing goes, you may want to look at the job options first because that might give you an idea about where you will want to look for a place to live. As an example, if something was available in Clay Center for work, that would also be where you might want to try to find a place to live to avoid a commute.
You might want to look in some of the smaller towns for housing places are much cheaper. But the job situation is pretty good. When I was possibly looking into Manhapiness I found a couple of IT type computer jobs. But then Curtis made me move to Newton and become a Deibold sheep. My sister lives in Wamego, and loves it. Housing is a little cheaper there... but it is a 16-20 mile commute to work.
Have her check out carreer builder and monster dot com, most of your major papers use them for thier online help wanted stuff anyways, plenty of good leads there when I was looking for work.
My wife just told me that she doesn't want to live in town cause we are use to driving 30 miles to do the shopping like we want. Help can't find anything since we don't know the areas
I really like the real small towns. 99% of the people are as freindly a folk you will ever meet. No big city crime. And most have small stores for that gallon of milk you need for supper instead of running 30mi into town for it.
