460 rebuild
So here's my plan:
Edelbrock - Performer intake manifold, performer plus cam, timing gear (vice chain).
Affordable Fuel Injection - throttle body fuel injection.
Crane - Rocker arm conversion kit.
Tri Y headers.
Conversion to an NV4500 5-spd transmission. Might go with the Ford ZF 5-spd, if it's easier, but the NV4500 has a strong reputation. Comments?
I'm also considering the Gear Vendor overdrive - 10 gears sounds neat, especially 3 overdrives!!
Finally, how much difference would adding the Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads make?
I exchanged several emails w/Mass-flo. Of the Edelbrock intake manifolds - Performer, Performer RPM and Torkker II, mass-flo only modifies (with it's MPFI) the Torkker II, probably because the Performers are dual plane manifolds & the Torkker II is a single plane. I suspect it's because they use a single sensor. Only problem (at least from my standpoint), the Torkker II has an RPM range of 3500 and up. That's way higher than I want to operate. Mass-flo says that it doesn't make any difference cuz it's "dry". Which may well be true. But the AFI throttle body is half the price and fits the intake manifold I want - so I'm going to go that way.
