Battery Cable Length

Hey all, just wondering if anyone knows what length ground battery cable to use on a 1990 F-150 351W ? I went out and picked up a 65" wire but just looking at it, it looks like it is way to long and I realy dont want to bundel it up and tie it off under the truck. Any help would be great!

Thx
Randall

Battery Cable Length

If it is anything like my 4.9, it used to ground on a starter mounting bolt. It is a little over six feet. I moved it with a short piece of #2 cable and grounded it to the alternator bracket. It works much better there, much less resistance. The factory ground cable was not much bigger than a set of cheap k-mart jumper cables.

Thank you, I will take a look into grounding it to the starter bracket.

It should be grounded to the frame in the middle, and there should be a smaller (but still heavy) ground from the battery to the core support.
