A putty knife works best, less chance of scratching the paint under the emblem and putting small dents in the cowl. It's just 4 rubber mounted pins that hold the emblem on.
In the emblem holes in the sheetmetal are inserted round expandable spring steel barrel clips with a rubberized coating around them (in some cases).
The emblems pins are inserted into the clips.
Using a plastic putty knife assures one of not scratching the paint.
If the emblems have been there since the truck was new, the clips may have bonded with the sheetmetal due to rust, so it may be hard to get the emblem off.
Work one side partially loose, than the other...do not try and work only one side to get the emblem free, that'll cause the pins to snap off.
