Power window problem

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Dec-02 AT 11:24 AM (EST)]Can the power window motors be rebuilt? My '95 F-150 driver's window began to only work from time to time and now it does not work at all. There is power to the switch and the motor gets hot but does not move at all. Heard they are expensive to replace.

The motors aren't serviceable - the brushes are assembled to the rear bearing plate, and can't be replaced. Remans are about $80.

Power window problem

Try here, sales@windowmotor.com I purchased rebuilt motors for my wifes truck at Checker but I still have the old motors and the people at windowmoter sell the gear kits, Take your motor off the regulator and make sure the gearbox isn,t jammed I had one of those, the ones I took off had deteriorated cushions in the gearbox.

Does anyone know where you can buy those "cushions"? I need a dozen of them. Has anyone found an alternative to using the factory cushions? Thanks for the help!

Sections of coil spring, rubber fuel line, copper line, or hard plastic bushings work, too.

Power window problem

I have done quite a few of them, and, what I have used is three pieces of teflon rod cut just under a half inch long. They fit right in there where the cushioners were. I have also taken the motors apart and put brushes in them. I get a pack of carbon appliance motor brushes and file or grind them to size, they have always worked. At the same time clean up the comutator with fine emery paper.
