I own a 2001 F150. I had an Astroflex Autostart installed in 2002. I believe that it is the 3006A model. It has worked fine until recently. I push the start button on the fob and the engine turns over but does not start. The Astroflex web site suggests that I try to start the engine remotely with a key in the ignition. When I did this, the truck started like normal. According to Astroflex, I have a problem with the security system and the Autostart is unable to bypass it and to take the truck to a Autostart dealer.
I don't have an aftermarket security system. There is just the stardard Ford security (key with the chip in it). When the Astroflex dealer installed the Autostart, he said that he had to install a blank key under the dash to bypass this feature.
The only thing that I have done to the truck that might have caused this problem is I had to unhook the battery for a couple hours for maintenance. I think that this might have caused the Autostart to lose its programming. Since I don't have a dealer near me, does anyone have any info on how to fix this. Thanks.
You shouldn't have to reprogram the pats bypass. The bypass contains a key that was programmed into the factory PAT system, it has a coil that sends the chips signal up to a loop around the key. This bypass module should be powered with a ground running to the alarm brain, if it's fuse you should check that fuse. If the fuse is ok, try putting a known good key in the box and trying the remote start again. If it works with the known good key, the key in the box will need to be reprogrammed as good.
It's a pretty simple setup once you see/play with it.
