Help! Possible Biodiesel Problem

I have ran about 1500 miles on b100 with no problem. Then my 7.3 started loosing power, holding out shifts, stalling when I came to a stop, and surging real bad in park after a drive. I thought it may have been a clogged up fuel system so i switched back to pump petrol, changed my filter 3-4 times (I had already changed it several times on the b100) and ran several diesel treatments through it. I cleaned out the filter housing which had some build up in it and some particles. I figureded it was still the clogged fuel system, like the bio had broke loose all the build up over the years. I also changed my oil because I know they are real particular on their oil. The oil was very dirty and foamy but still ran bad. So i took it to ford and had them pull the codes and it came back with a low boost and IPR code but they said the fuel pressure at the block was fine so they didnt thin the system was clogged. They replaced the IPR and did something else and the boost code went away and ran fine for a short time but back to the same old. They are unsure of the problem and think it may be an internal oil leak and want to pull the valve covers. My friend who makes bio with me has a similar problem and a different ford mechanic told him the same thing. We have been very careful in our production and filter the bio very well. Any ideas could help? Thanks Michael.

Gosh, thats a toughy. Wish i could be of more help to you. I know that when the experts arrive (on horseback probably lol) they will ask - What year truck? how many miles? What mods? Etc... so hopefully that will get em started. GL

There is an alternate fuels forum here on FTE. Those guys may be able to answer this question far better than this forum if it's specifically due to the use of bio.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much, but they may be a much better resource over there.

Welcome to FTE. As POP mentioned, it would be a good idea to ask down in the Bio section. Here's a link Bio-diesel, Propane and Alternative Diesel Engine Fuels - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Are you running Bio or WVO? Either way, bad fuel (dino or bio) can screw up the injectors so you do have to be careful. Your oil should not be foamy. What kind and weight motor oil are you using, and how often do you normally change it.

Since it may or may not be fuel related, it would be helpful if you could give us a little more detail as to the symptoms, and what codes the dealer pulled. How much regular diesel have you run through the motor since you started having problems?
