exhaust queston

alrighty now. im sure this has been thrown around before but what muffler/exhaust will give me the loudest noise. ive heard other f150's around that are much much louder than mine. i only have a flowmaster cat back siso. im not really looking for the performance side of things, i just want heads to turn when i leave the line at the stop light with my foot through the floor. i guess its just personal preferance.

dumped is gonna be the loudest usually. if you don't care about being legal, you can remove the rear cats. those cats attenuate some of the exhaust noise.

don't recommend it though, especially as the fine is EPA mandated at about $10,000 if you get caught, and the shop who does it also gets fined as well

see ive been thinking about the headers thing with glasspacks or somekind of strait through muffler set up. and the no cats thing i dont think would be a problem but i dont want to throw codes. maybe headers and magnaflow high flow cats. just run two of them insead of 4 and keep all the o2 sensors installed.

you've just spent about 600-1000.00 for noise, no benifets... i been there, done that, won't be there again. think long and hard about it before you do it. remember, party lights will be some of the ones turning their heads...

you could always do an electronic cut-out and have a switch inside to make it louder when ever you want. The sell for under $100 and is an easy install.

if you get a good one they aren't bad. if you put it on before the muffler and leave the "cut-out" end as a dump they are really loud. depending on the motor it could be a little raspy.

oh and one other thing.... it does mess with your back pressure so there will be a change in your low end torque and your top end. if you were take the truck down the track you would want to start out with it open and close it after you broke 3000+ rpm. that way you gain all of your high end torque back from more back pressure.
