I have a 77 f150 with a 390 in it and I had to put a new moter in it and as far as I can see every thing is conected right, I have a new starter, ignition that ran the old 390 and a new battery, but the problem is when I turn the key it just clicks and wears the battery kills on me, the ground is clean and in the corect place. Does any one have any ideas? I would apreciate the help.
To isolate the starter solonoid/relay jumper it momentarily from one big post to the other. If the starter turns then replace the relay, if not than start investigating that starter. This is all assuming you have a good battery in it to perform this test.

Yea, It clicks nothing turns over and the battery is dead, the starter is new so it should be good, and I can put a socket on it and turn it over. I am going to the selinoid and see what happens, Hopefuly not the boom!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-16-03 AT 08:44 AM (EST)]I think your starter might be shot. Try this, whenever you try to start and it drains the battery, get out and feel your starter. If it is warm/hot to the touch then something is definetly wrong with the starter. Espescially if it is putting that much of a load on the battery.
