Hi everyone. Well first i'd like to say this is a great forum, alot of info to be looked into. I recently bought my neighbor's 1965 ford f100 flairside custom cab. Its in pretty good shape. Im new to the truck, havent worked on anything like it yet, but i do understand the basics. First thing im working on are the brakes, as they are kinda bad, the driver front hangs up. The body is in pretty good shape, not much rust from what i can see. There is a little rust on the floorpans, but thats usually a given with a older vehicle. It has a 351 windsor in it with a C4 auto trans. When i got the truck, the guy gave me a catalog for parts, LMC truck, im wondering if there are any other part retailers that people buy from online or catalog? Im sure i will have a few more questions in the future.
Welcome aboard, life is good, it's great having another Ford truck enthusiast join the family. As blloyd noted, knowledgeable and helpful membership. Also have a 65 F100 flareside I have been driving for the past 35 plus yrs, it's been my work horse for all these yrs. Don't hesitate posting any questions, usually find if you run a search on topic and narrow field to the 61-66 forum you may find info you are looking for. Also, browse the other forums, store house of info, and don't forget the 'articles/spec' forum, lots of info there to. Again, welcome.
Welcome to the group.
The 'search' function on this site works really well. Don't be afraid to use it. Most topics have been covered pretty thoroughly.
Parts vendors--look up Carolina Classics (good source for sheet metal and most other things), Dennis Carpenter (the only rubber parts you want) and Flashback F100's (new stuff, plus the only vendor supplying used parts I know of).
Also, check out Slick60s.org for another source of information and about 'Slickstock', the bi-annual meetup for these trucks.
Welcome to FTE, this is heaven on earth for Ford Truckers. This is the place to get the answers and the help you will need. You may want to check out the sponsoring vendors list in the left column. You will notice that LMC is not on there. I have to agree with ddavidv, Carolina Classics and Dennis Carpenter are two really good sources. Keep reading the forums you will see many more mentioned.
