I noticed today on the shell, synthetic 5w-40 bottle it says not for use in model year 2007 diesel engines. does anyone know why this is? I know there are a lot of people on this forum that support this oil, so I am sure that it is ok in my 2007. I have been using this oil, and will continue to use it, just wondering if anyone has some insight?
Just a guess, but what I think they mean are the 2007 'emission' engines with DPFs and a greater percentage of EGR. These engines have higher ash levels in the oil and need an oil that can contain it.

Still some of the "old" 5w-40 Rotella on the shelves, BUT current production Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 is good to go for the new engines. Changeover occured earlier this year.
At any rate all of it is good for 2007 Ford model year engines, the prior 5W-40 Rotella was not good for the 2007 emission standard engines which in Fords case were only installed in 2008 model year trucks.
