Red face Hard Starting Possible Stc Bracket?

hey guys how can i convince my dealership that the stc fitting is bad. PART # 4C3Z-9B246-A. my code reader shows no codes/defaults but i continue to have hard starting issues, cranks fast 7-10 sec then fires up, low power 5-10% decreased then and engine surge u can see on the tack 50-60 rpms up and down. i bought a stc fitting kit on ebay for about 35 and want to take it to the dealer and have them install it do you guys think that is a good idea? i dont think it is a fuel/oil maintaince issue i use mobil 1 5w-40 syn oil and i change fuel filters every 7000 mi i also give the engine a good hard run twice a week to clean things out.

Huh, convinceing the dealer could be like convinceing the snow-man that the hot water will do good for him. Don't know how, but make your truck brake down - not start, than you get the green light. Maybe someone knows some trick to blow the fitting.

Have you taken it to the dealer yet? Have you confirmed that they have Certified 6.0 Techs? Seems like you would want to talk to the 6.0 Tech and see what they have to say about it.

I had hard starting problems with my '06 6.0 and the dealer had to replace some o rings in some oil tube because it was loosing pressure during starting. I have no idea what they were talking about but all the work was done under the hood and the engine warranty covered it less the deductable.

i took the truck to the dealer asked for a certified 6.0l diesl teck they said they had 2 of them, they says they reflashed my truck to the latest tune the inductive heat for the injectors, (i lost about 3mpg) they also said they hooked it up to the comp and all sensors readings said ok. later that week i take my truck to my cabin about 2 hrs & 95mi away drive the truck hard the hold time (55-70mph). let truck sit for about 2hrs when i get there. i go to start it the engine spins over real fast, faster than normal starting speed and it took about 9sec to fire up. also when it did fire up the engine surge returns the idle fluctuates about 50-60 rpms and the power seems to be about 10% lower. given the temp about 95 deg and i am running mobil 1 5w-40 syn oil i cant figure how the inductive heat flash would help my problem, any suggestions guys i am at my wits end here trying to get my dealer to solve this issue. any help will be appreciated.

is it possible it could be a failing icp,ipr sensor thing, i have rulled out the egr because i unplugged it about 2yrs ago and this starting problem only started in the last month.
i even disconnected both batteries and connected them as stated in the teck folder to whipe the memory in the ecm, this did not help or hurt either.

last sunday when i returned home from the 2hr camp drive and let truck sit for 1hr the engine cranked for appx. 10sec before it fired up still had the surging during initial idle and up to 30min down the road the surging still happened. i changed air filter, oil filter, oil, and fuel filters the previous week so it cant be a maintenance related item.

Take it to the dealer tell them you have the same problem when it is warm and have them monitor the ICP and IPR when you try and start the engine and when it is idling after the engine is running. IF the HPOP is bad or the stc fitting they should see this reflected in the ICP readings.
