hi all, i'm new to the y-block recently bought a 64 f100 with the 292 4 speed, it has the 4x4 axles and 2x4 trans.
i saw this 3x2 barrel intake on craigslist, and am looking for any input on what benefits or downsides would come with it. i'm expecting more power and more fuel. its not a daily driver or a show truck so more safe power is always good.
also what would a fair price for something like this be.
This guy isn't going to take less than $600 and probably more like $1,000+. I'd suggest if you want to actually drive this truck go get a bluethunder 4-barrell aluminium intake and a new 4-barrel of your favorite flavor and proper size for the engine (you need to determine what else you will do to this engine and probably do it all at once). This setup will probably run you in the $600-$700 for new parts if you install and set it up.
10 years ago I bought a 3-duce offy manifold with progressive linkage, aluminum fuel block, chrome filter cases and 3-stromberg (large) 97 carbs off of ebay for $350. I drove 10 hours each way (and rented a pickup truck) because I had to take everything else, this include a complete 54 239y with 3-speed tranny attached and about 20 other carbs and some heads, distributors, fuel pumps and a few other pieces. In the end I sold everything making a tidy profit but I also been told repeatedly by many people that 3-dueces is something for looks and you will spend more time tinkering with it than driving it (not personal experience, just here-say)
