Thinking of putting a Flowmaster cat back set up and a Diablo tuner in my '08. Anybody have personal experience with this combination? Most of miles are empty so would mostly be looking for increased economy but would be nice to have a little more power when I do pull. Will be running on 87 octane.
My understanding is that for a tune to give you good gains, it will be for premium fuel. The cost of the tuner, and the cost of premium fuel is not usually worth the gains.
These trucks are what they are, and they are NOT a diesel..... Many V10 owners have dropped thounds of dollars on tuners, and full exhaust only to gain a few tenths of a mpg gain. We don't/can't get HP at the turn of a button.
If you are after sound, then look a Banks for Flowmaster. If you want a mpg increase, save your money for the tank.
The BEST thing you can do for your truck is keep all the maintance in check, and keep the go pedal away from the floor. Keep the truck around 2,500 RMPs.
I have both on my '99. Good combo, just use the 87 octane tune and modify it. You can get some good gains by changing the spark advance, MAF scaling and richening the system up a little.
