I went outside earlier. Most of you know that I had a leak that i couldn't find in my Master cylinder. well, it is actually down another 1/8th of an inch, but it has taken a week to do that and still no clue.
I discovered something different that I haven't even see on this post.
On my 4.0 the tensioner pulley. well, there seems to be a plastic retainer in between the housing and the inner round bodied spring. Just down the tensioner at lets say at 9 O'clock position a snap ring end is/was sticking out and trying to cut down and into my belt. Since the serpentine belt runs onto the bottom of the pulley the clip was cutting into the side/top of the belt. i took a screwdriver and pushed it out of the way.
Weird huh? It pays to look things over.
YES-I believe so. Like I stated earlier there seems to be a snap ring migrating forward and away from the assembly. I'm going to change mine and I recommend everyone take a look at theirs as well. If it happens to "cut" my serpentine belt before I can though I always carry a spare.-No problem. I just don't want it to "whip" around and rupture a hose or something as its fading away.

my uncle has a 90 f150 4wd w a strait six and a 4spd w a granny low... i've been helping him do some work on it lately... he has to cut two ribs of his serp. belt because his tensioner is all cracked up on the end... and just eats them if he doesn't...
Boz, check out your combi-prop valve, may have a leak from the end cap. Mine did exactly what yours is doing & a 25c "O" seal in the accumulation chamber piston rod was failed. I put a sardine can under it to prove it out as it'll only leak when the pedal is pumped.

If there are no obvious leaks at things like calipers, wheel cylinders, proportioning valves, lines...it is possible your master is leaking into the booster. It's something you can't see leaking without removing the master and looking inside your booster. I've seen it several times on various vehicles. Hope that helps.
See if you can pull off the vacuum line going to the booster to look for brake fluid.
Usually not, cuz all the fluid drops to the bottom and typically the vacuum line is towards the top of the booster with a nipple that makes it pretty much impossible to see inside. It's worth a shot though, much easier than pulling the master. But again, pulling the master to look for fluid in the booster should be your last resort after determining that nothing else is leaking anywhere else on the vehicle.

I'd have thought the pedal would sink slowly to the floor (under constant foot pressure holding the pedal down) if the MC was leaking?
