Its not a chip. Its basically a cheap resister in a plastic box with a few wire leads. It makes the vehicle's a/f ratio a little different, nothing more, and it's not something I'd put on my vehicles. those resistors fool the PCM into thinking the incoming air temp is 65F (roughly). the PCM adjusts by dumping more fuel. simple, effective and most likely to cause something to break

best steer clear of those things
Thanks for the info will stay away from that stuff!!
I have heard that most chips only fool the PCM. Thus creating a lot of premature wear/breaking. Are there any chips that do not fool the PCM?
I have heard that programmers are the way to go. Have I assumed this correctly?
Chips do not fool the computer - none of them do. The problem is.... that device is not a chip. Chips do the same thing programmers do: replace the computer code with a different program (actually not the entire program, just parameter tables). From 2004+ the F150's PCM no longer has a service port for a chip so a programmer is the only way to replace the program.
I purchased a chip from SLRMOTORSPORTS for my truck and returned it back to them with the needed RA# they gave me and they never credited my credit card and haven't responded to any emails. I'm out the $70.00 for the chip. They have the chip and my money and won't respond to my emails. They have a PO box for an address and no phone number listed. I should have known it was a scam. I wouldn't do any business with them again. SLRMOTORSPORTS are thieves and they are running a scam.
