Powerstroke Addicts Anonymous - An online club we have going here on the 1999-2003 PSD Forum. You'll see some sigs with a PAA Member #. I'm #444 but there are not that many members. I chose that because it goes with T444E.
Robin- He didn't say anything about not voiding the warranty... He basically said on these trucks anything is safe as long as its not on there when I take it back for warranty work... (I.E. programmer) The CCV and all of those kind of basic mods dosn't make a difference. He even gave my 6637 an O.K and said it was a dang good filter. I thought that they would put a stock air box back on it, but they didn't. And even said that the cover was a great idea and the best he'd ever seen. Rep's to Pete for that...
Thank guys!!!
Did you read the thread on PSN about breaking in a rebuilt Powerstroke. I thought there was a lot of contracdicting advise.
Just who do you listen to. What did your mechanic have to say?
he said that he drove it about 40 miles on the floor board and it should be fine now... Change the oil in 1000 miles and do what I wanna... He's the interesting part: Since ford no longer has a contract with powerstroke they have contracted CAT to do the rebuilds... So my motor was actually built by CAT... I need to talk to someone that has a recently remmaned 7.3... It sounds different then any 7.3 I have ever herd. It has a humm to it almost like the bigger trucks do... It is louder then other 7.3's and you can hear the turbo through the exhaust at any RPM... And i have a muffler! But ill tell you what i have no complaints it is worth every penny! It runs like a rapped ape! And I don't know what people say about how they get better fuel mileage after so many miles but i have driven it a lot on a quarter tank and my fuel light just came on as i parked it tonight. I'm going to try and run the mileage tomorrow and see what I get...
I don't know what they told you(follow their directions) but when i got mine with 45 miles on it, they told me to stay off the highway, bang it around town for about 500 miles so everything seats and meshes together, you know what i mean. Good luck with her...
Sounds like the mechanic broke it in for ya. So the rebuild was done by CAT. That is interesting. Seems like no two 7.3s sound the same but this must sound REALLY different. I could never hear the turbo through the exhaust until I straight piped it. Do you have a BOOST and EGT gauge. It would be interesting to get those readings at WOT.
Mike- In general I agree with the taking it easy idea... But since the foreman of the shop already wooded it i might as well also... Plus its got a 2 year warranty so i figure if its gonna break hopfully it will do it sooner then later...
Robin- I don't have any gauges yet I am going to oder the Interceptor Aero Force gauges... ASAP! But even the sound out the pipe is totally different... Perhaps you will get to hear it if ya head this way...

That might just happen. I did spend quite a bit of my travel budget going to Utah and then to NY, NH and VT already in the last month. I will defintely be going to SLO next year.
I am falling asleep at the keyboard, so goodnight for now.
