I have a 89 F-150 with a 302 cid engine> My problem is as follows, My tempature is at the line to the left of the normal on my guage. I have replced my stat with a new one 195 degrees and have replaced my antifreeze with new antifreeze and the temp still will not come up. I know the gage is working because I have placed cardboard in front of my radiator to help get the engine warm. Also I measured the antifreeze tempature with a thermometer and the temp was 155 degrees.Does anyone have any suggestions as what to do now
Did you BENCH TEST the thermostat BEFORE you installed it?
This is a common practice.
It is a Known fact that you can get a *Faulty* Brand new thermostat
Always test it before installing it
Use a candy thermometer to monitor the thermostat opening .
Place the thermostat in a pot of water on the stove burner while heating up the water.
Watching for it to open around its designated value.
