Okay have a 94 Splash that the A/C has been acting up on. Last month had it in the shop for a charge, that seemed to work and the shop didn't mention any system leaks.
Today take it out for it's weekly run and the A/C isn't getting cold at all, just somewhat cool. So i've either got a leak or something else
Now keep in mind when it comes to AC systems i don't know a thing. Opened the hood and noticed what i think is the clutch on the front of the compressor is turning only 1 or 2 times then stopping for a few seconds then does the same thing. If that is the clutch is it acting normal or if not could that be the problem.
Yeah, when my refrigerant got real low, the compressor kept cycling on and off when I had the a/c on. As soon as I charged it, it stopped cycling like that. You must have a leak if you had it recharged and, only after a month, it's back to the behavior of it having a low level of refrigerant. Did they put refrigerant in it that has a sealant in it? Is yours R12 or R134a? Forget which year they switched over. If you have the R134a, you can go to a WalMart and buy the stuff yourself and recharge it. Try the stuff that has a sealant for leaks and see if that helps at all. If it's the R12, then you'll have to take it back to them to check for any leaks. Or you can get one of those leak detectors to find the leak, although I'm not sure how expensive they are, unless you can rent one somewhere. Just a few things to try.
