1977/79 Styleside pickups: If the midship & aft axle fuel tanks are factory, they'll be behind doors on the left quarter panel.
1978/79: There's no floor mounted switcher valve if it has factory installed dual fuel tanks.
The valve & solenoid assembly is mounted underneath the truck on the frame: D5TZ9189B / Marked: D5TF-9F271-AA / -AB or D8TF-9F271-AA or D9TF-9F271-AA.
The switch (D5TZ9A050A) that controls the valve and solenoid is mounted in the heater control panel. When activated it switches the tanks and the fuel gauge.
The **** (D4AZ18519A) on the switch is chromed plastic and tends to snap off...it's the same **** that's used on the heater control panel levers.
