I'm Curious About Waterproofing My Air Intake System. I Have A '77 Witha 429 With An Edelbrock 750 Sitting On Top. I Was Thinking Of Trying To Put A 90 Degree Pvc Elbow Right On Top And Run The Intake Through The Firewall Into The Hole Where The Blower Motor Used Be. Any Other Water Proofing Tips Would Be Good Too. I Converted It Over To Hei And I Have A 1-wire Alternator(less Wires The Better).
I would think for a little more money you could convert a snorkel kit for a LandRover to work on your truck or maybe even one from a jeep. Are you trying to get a deeper fordding depth? Might try the off road forum I have not heard much mention of any one doing that but what ever you do get pictures and show us.
That engine is going to require quite a bit of air, and the little hole for the blower motor is not large enough.
You will have to make it larger so the calibration of the carb is not effected, and the thing runs too fat.
The longer the snorkel, the larger it will have to be. You can run the filter in the cab, but know that it gets pretty loud inside after you do this.
a snorkel for a jeep or land rover will not move enough air for the 429, if you hack out the heater hole and run pvc you would be good. but like said, it will be loud
