Clear coated wheels

Does anyone have foggy or crusty looking clear coat on their factory aluminum wheels?

Mine was stating to look like crap on my dually, so I talked to my polishing guy that does my Pete and he told me to get some Permatex gasket remover(in a spray can) spray it on, let stand for 10 mins hose off with water.
I had to do it twice to get it all off. I did all 4 wheels with 1 1/2 cans.

Now my polish guy said he can cut them with 600 grit sandpaper and polish them out.

So if your wheels look like mine did get some gasket remover.

Wow Randy, never heard of useing the spray permatex remover, i got bad spots where the wheel weights scuffed the finnish and where the tire guy slipped and hit the rim. Worked pretty good?

I wouldnt waste your time or money, I was very pleased with the results. you dont have to scrub or nothing. The best part was it gave me a reason so sit on a lawn chair pop a top and watch it work (garden hose in on hand Miller Lite in the other hand). I did one wheel at a time. 1 1/2 cans of remover 6 pack of lite

No, but I wondered about the affects of that stuff on your tires. Any signs the rubber didn't like the gasket remover?

I hope you like polishing, because you'll be doing it a lot now to keep that finish mirror-like.

As for that orange clean keeps the corrosion any for a long time. I just use it when I wash my truck.
I get my wheel on my Peterbilt done once every 2 years, and have orange cleaner spayed on at the blue beacon once a week when they wash my truck.

Might be a supporter thing. Could you ask you guy a question for me? One of my front rims the po somehow stripped the clear coat off of it and I have used everything I could think of to try and get the shine back. I even bought some snake oil that some guy was selling at Carisle. it worked ok on some spots and now it looks worse than ever.
